Apple is bringing Dynamic Island to the Mac for the first time with the new MacBook Pro, giving Spotlight, Live Activities and Siri AI a new home at the top of the display.
The feature was revealed alongside Apple’s new MacBook Pro announcement, with the company adapting the familiar iPhone interface for macOS 27.
On MacBook Pro, Dynamic Island can show and control real-time information without requiring users to leave the app they are working in. Apple says users can search their Mac, ask Siri a question, answer a phone call, control music, accept an AirDrop request and view Live Activities directly from the interface.
The change also gives Apple a new way to use the area around the display cutout while tying the Mac more closely to the interaction patterns already used across iPhone.
Dynamic Island is designed to work alongside the new Touch capabilities introduced on MacBook Pro, allowing users to tap directly on controls and Live Activities at the top of the display.
The feature arrives as part of a much broader MacBook Pro redesign that also includes a tandem OLED PROLED XDR display, M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, a thinner and lighter chassis, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and up to 24 hours of battery life.
The new MacBook Pro is available to pre-order now and will begin arriving to customers on Friday, November 6.
