EE has confirmed how much Apple’s new iPhone Handoff feature will cost in the UK, with customers able to add the service for £5 per month when it launches.
EE says iPhone Handoff will be included at no extra cost with its Full Works Plus plan, while other eligible customers will be able to add the feature for £5 per month on a rolling contract.
The carrier says iPhone Handoff is coming soon and will initially be available exclusively through EE in the UK, making it the first British network to offer Apple’s new two-iPhone switching feature.
iPhone Handoff lets one mobile number move between two compatible iPhones, allowing users to switch which device is active without manually transferring an eSIM each time.
Once set up, calls, voicemail, iMessage, RCS, SMS and MMS messages follow whichever iPhone is currently active, while Find My location also moves to the device being used.
EE says the feature requires two compatible iPhones running iOS 27 or later and signed in to the same Apple Account. The network is positioning it as a useful option for customers who want to use different iPhones in different situations, such as carrying a lighter device while travelling, exercising or attending events.
The £5 monthly price also brings the UK broadly in line with early international pricing. T-Mobile in the US has already confirmed a $5 monthly fee, while Verizon is charging $10 per month for the same feature.
The Apple Post previously looked at whether iPhone Handoff is really worth paying $5 a month for, and EE’s UK pricing now gives customers here a much clearer idea of what the convenience will cost.
The feature is arriving alongside iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable iPhone, which EE began taking pre-orders for on October 16 ahead of its October 23 launch. EE says customers buying iPhone Duo will be able to choose from a range of pay monthly plans, with iPhone Handoff positioned as one of the key extras available through the network.
For UK customers considering keeping two iPhones active around the same number, the main decision will now be whether the convenience of switching devices is worth another £5 each month — or whether moving to EE’s Full Works Plus plan makes more sense.
