Apple users in Manchester can now buy bus and tram tickets directly in Apple Wallet and store them on a digital Bee Card, making the region the first in the U.K. to offer the feature.
Transport for Greater Manchester announced the expansion after previously bringing Our Pass to Apple Wallet for 16- to 18-year-olds. The new Bee Card is available to Apple users of all ages.
Passengers can buy 1-day and 7-day tickets for buses, trams or combined bus and tram travel, alongside weekend and family tickets, directly through Apple Wallet. Once purchased, the ticket is stored on the Bee Card and can be used by tapping an iPhone or Apple Watch on a reader.
To add a Bee Card, users can open Apple Wallet, tap the plus button, select Travel Card and choose Bee Network. A ticket can then be purchased without needing to open the separate Bee Network app.
The feature supports Express Mode, allowing passengers to tap their iPhone or Apple Watch on a reader without waking or unlocking the device or opening an app. iOS 27 or later is required, while Express Mode requires an iPhone XR or later or Apple Watch Series 6 or later.
Eight adult and family tickets are available at launch, including 1-day and 7-day Bee Bus tickets, all-zone weekend and 7-day tram tickets, family options, and all-zone 1-day and 7-day combined bus and tram tickets.
The launch builds on the arrival of Our Pass in Apple Wallet earlier this year, which allows eligible 16- to 18-year-olds in Greater Manchester to use their iPhone or Apple Watch for free bus travel and discounted tram fares.
Passengers who prefer the Bee Network’s existing Tap and Go system can continue paying with a credit or debit card in Apple Wallet. Tickets also remain available through the Bee Network app.
Transport Commissioner for Greater Manchester Vernon Everitt said the expansion gives Apple users of all ages an easy, secure and private new way to pay for travel as the Bee Network continues to integrate buses, trams and, in the future, local rail services.
