How to Play Counter-Strike 2 on Mac

Valve dropped official Mac support when Counter-Strike 2 replaced Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, but Mac users aren’t completely locked out of the hugely popular competitive shooter.

The Windows version of Counter-Strike 2 can be run on compatible Macs using CrossOver, providing an alternative for players who don’t have access to a Windows gaming PC.

Is Counter-Strike 2 available on Mac?

No. Valve doesn’t currently offer a native macOS version of Counter-Strike 2, despite its predecessor CS previously supporting the platform.

CrossOver provides a workaround by allowing the Windows versions of Steam and Counter-Strike 2 to run within macOS.

Instead of installing an entire Windows operating system, CrossOver translates the Windows technologies required by supported games and applications.

How to install Counter-Strike 2 on Mac

First, download CrossOver for Mac and complete the installation.

Open CrossOver and install Steam for Windows. Once Steam is running, sign into your existing Steam account and download Counter-Strike 2.

Counter-Strike 2 is free to play, so users who don’t already have the game in their library can add it through Steam without purchasing it.

Once downloaded, launch Counter-Strike 2 through Steam within CrossOver.

Frame rate is particularly important in a competitive game like Counter-Strike 2, so it’s worth experimenting with resolution and graphics settings. Choosing lower settings may provide a smoother experience than prioritizing visual quality.
