Apple has expanded watchOS 27.0.1 to all Apple Watch models compatible with watchOS 27, five days after initially releasing the update exclusively for Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4.
The update first arrived on September 23 to address an issue that could cause Apple’s newest watches to unexpectedly restart.
Apple has now made watchOS 27.0.1 available more broadly, including for older compatible Apple Watch models running watchOS 27.
Apple’s release notes say the update “provides bug fixes for your Apple Watch,” including a fix for an issue that could cause Apple Watch to restart unexpectedly.
When watchOS 27.0.1 initially launched last week, some Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 owners had reported their new devices randomly restarting, in some cases multiple times per day.
The original release was limited to those two new models, suggesting the unexpected restart issue was particularly relevant to Apple’s latest hardware.
Today’s expanded availability means Apple Watch Series 9 and later models compatible with watchOS 27 can now install the update as well.
Apple has not detailed any additional changes specifically aimed at the older models receiving watchOS 27.0.1 today, and there are no new features included in the release.
Apple’s watchOS 27 release notes list the unexpected restart fix as the principal change in watchOS 27.0.1.
The wider rollout comes on the same day Apple released iOS 27.0.1, iPadOS 27.0.1 and macOS Golden Gate 27.0.1 as part of a broader round of maintenance updates across its platforms.
Apple Watch users can install watchOS 27.0.1 through the Watch app on a paired iPhone by selecting General and then Software Update, or directly through the Settings app on Apple Watch.
