iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max pre-orders are now underway, but getting the exact model you wanted for launch day may not have gone to plan.
If your preferred color, storage capacity or delivery date is unavailable, there are still several ways to improve your chances of getting an iPhone 18 Pro around launch. Apple has confirmed that the new models will become available beginning Friday, September 18.
The first thing worth trying is checking other configurations. Availability can differ between iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, as well as between the black, silver, glacier and burgundy finishes and the 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB capacities.
Keep checking Apple Store availability
Apple Store availability can change as orders are processed, so a configuration showing a later delivery estimate now may become available sooner. It is worth checking again rather than assuming the estimate you initially saw will remain unchanged.
In-store pickup is another option to watch. Apple says iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max availability begins September 18, meaning customers who missed a launch-day delivery may have another opportunity through their local Apple Store.
It is also worth checking carriers and other authorized retailers, particularly if buying through a carrier is an option for you. Inventory is not necessarily identical everywhere, so a model unavailable directly from Apple could still be obtainable elsewhere.
If getting the phone quickly matters more than getting a particular finish, checking alternative colors can make sense. The same applies to storage, although we would not recommend spending substantially more on capacity you do not need simply to receive the phone a few days earlier.
Customers who are happy to visit a store should also check availability around launch day. Stock can vary considerably by location and configuration, and online pickup availability is generally a better indicator than simply turning up and hoping a particular model is available.
Apple has confirmed that iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max launch on Friday, September 18 in more than 65 countries and regions, including the United States and United Kingdom. A further 20 countries and regions will receive the devices beginning September 25.
If your order is already placed but has a later delivery estimate, keep it in place while looking at alternatives unless you are certain you have secured another device. Canceling first could leave you with neither option if availability changes.
