Apple Watch Series 12 introduces faster charging, with Apple saying a 15-minute charge can now provide up to 12 hours of additional battery life.
That is 50 percent more additional battery life from a 15-minute charge than the previous model, making shorter top-ups more useful before work, a workout or overnight sleep tracking.
Everyday battery life remains rated at up to 24 hours, but Apple has improved endurance during outdoor workouts. Series 12 can now last for up to 10 hours during an outdoor workout, 25 percent longer than the previous generation.
The improvements arrive alongside Apple’s new S11 chip and Health Sensing System, both of which support significantly more frequent health measurements throughout the day.
The Apple Post previously reported that Series 12 was expected to focus heavily on health and internal upgrades rather than a major redesign, and Apple’s launch confirms that approach.
The watch now checks heart rate every five seconds and measures heart rate variability up to 24 times more often, while also introducing the new Readiness score and more detailed daytime and overnight Vitals views.
According to Apple, Series 12 is available to pre-order today, with availability beginning Friday, September 18.
