Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on Wednesday, bringing a familiar design with a collection of hardware upgrades focused on performance, cameras, battery life and display efficiency.
The overall look is not expected to change dramatically from the iPhone 17 Pro generation, but Apple is rumored to be refining several areas that could make the new models feel noticeably different in daily use.
The Apple Post previously rounded up the major iPhone 18 Pro rumors, and the latest reports have now narrowed down which upgrades are most likely to appear at Apple’s September 9 event.
One of the clearest changes is expected to be a smaller Dynamic Island. Apple is not believed to be removing it entirely this year, but reports suggest the cutout could be noticeably narrower as some Face ID components move beneath the display.

The iPhone 18 Pro lineup is also expected to debut Apple’s A20 Pro chip, built using TSMC’s first-generation 2nm process. That change should improve both performance and power efficiency, while helping Apple manage more demanding on-device Apple Intelligence features in iOS 27.
Camera upgrades are another major focus. A mechanical variable-aperture Main camera has been repeatedly rumored, potentially giving users more control over light and depth of field. There is still uncertainty over whether it will appear on both Pro models or only the Pro Max.
As reported by 9to5Mac, recent information also points to an improved vapor chamber, which could help the new phones maintain performance for longer under sustained workloads.
Battery life may improve through a combination of larger capacities, the more efficient A20 Pro chip and newer LTPO+ display technology. The Pro Max in particular is expected to gain a noticeably larger battery.
Apple’s next-generation C2 modem is also expected to appear in at least some iPhone 18 Pro models, although reports suggest U.S. variants could continue using Qualcomm hardware for mmWave support.
Color options may provide the most visible difference at a glance. Dark Cherry has emerged as the signature rumored finish, alongside Light Blue and Silver, while recent leaks have cast doubt on a black option.
Apple is also believed to be simplifying the Camera Control button by removing the separate capacitive layer while retaining pressure-sensitive functionality.
The new Pro models are expected to launch alongside Apple’s first foldable iPhone, while the standard iPhone 18 is reportedly being held back until spring 2027.
