Apple’s long-rumored foldable iPhone could become the most expensive iPhone the company has ever sold, with a fully configured iPhone Ultra potentially pushing beyond the $3,000 mark.
According to a report from AppleInsider, pricing estimates from TrendForce suggest Apple could position the foldable iPhone Ultra at around $2,099 to $2,299 for an entry-level configuration. If Apple offers higher-capacity storage options, including a possible 2TB model, the final price could climb significantly higher.
A maximum-storage version could therefore exceed $3,000 once Apple’s usual storage premiums are taken into account, putting the device well above the current iPhone Pro Max range and firmly into premium laptop territory.
The higher pricing is expected to reflect both the complexity of the foldable hardware and the rising cost of key components. Memory and storage prices have reportedly increased, while the iPhone Ultra is also expected to use a more advanced folding display system, a new hinge design and higher-end internal components than Apple’s conventional iPhone models.
Rumors suggest the iPhone Ultra will feature an outer display measuring around 5.5 inches and a larger folding screen of roughly 7.8 inches when opened. The device is also expected to use Apple’s next-generation A20 Pro chip, which is widely expected to be manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process.
Other reported specifications include 12GB of RAM and a dual-camera system with two 48-megapixel rear sensors. Apple is also expected to focus heavily on making the device as thin as possible while still delivering battery life suitable for a larger foldable display.
The iPhone Ultra is expected to headline a very different iPhone launch strategy this year. Apple is rumored to unveil the foldable model alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, while the standard iPhone 18 could be held back until spring 2027.
