iOS 27 gives compatible iPhone models a new way to rescue photos that feel too tightly cropped. The Extend tool in Photos can generate additional image content beyond the edges of the original shot, giving the subject more space without simply zooming out.
Extend can be particularly useful when straightening a horizon or changing an image’s aspect ratio would normally cut off part of the picture. Apple Intelligence fills the newly created space based on the surrounding image.

How to use Extend in Photos on iOS 27
- Open the Photos app on your iPhone.

- Allow Apple Intelligence to generate the missing areas.
- Review the result and tap Done to save your changes.
Photos edits are non-destructive, so you can return to the image later and revert to the original if you change your mind.
