Alleged iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 boxes leak months ahead of expected launch

Images claiming to show retail packaging for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 have surfaced online, offering a possible early look at the two devices months before they are expected to go on sale.

The photographs were shared by leaker Majin Bu and appear to have been taken inside a manufacturing facility. One image shows what is claimed to be a pink iPhone 18 box, while another appears to show packaging for a black iPhone Air 2.

If genuine, the images suggest Apple could be preparing a noticeable change to its packaging. Both alleged devices are pictured on black boxes, a departure from the lighter packaging Apple has typically used for its standard iPhone models in recent years.

The alleged iPhone 18 packaging also points to a familiar design, with two vertically arranged rear cameras similar to the layout introduced with the iPhone 16 and carried forward on the iPhone 17. Majin Bu claims the device could be slightly larger than its predecessor, although that detail remains unconfirmed.

The second image is potentially more revealing. The alleged iPhone Air 2 is shown with two rear cameras positioned horizontally inside an elongated camera enclosure. The first-generation iPhone Air has only a single 48-megapixel rear camera, making the addition of a second lens one of the most significant upgrades rumored for its successor.

Previous reports have suggested Apple is testing an iPhone Air 2 with a 48-megapixel Main camera alongside a new 48-megapixel Ultra Wide camera. The device is also rumored to retain a display similar in size to the first generation while potentially becoming slightly thinner and gaining improvements to battery life.

The leak arrives as Apple is expected to make a major change to its traditional iPhone release schedule. As The Apple Post has previously reported, Apple is rumored to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and its first foldable iPhone this September, while holding the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2 back until spring 2027.

That would mean the boxes shown in the images, if authentic, are appearing unusually early. It is also possible that they are prototype packaging, production samples or fabricated images, so the photographs should be treated with caution until further evidence emerges.
