Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro lineup could arrive with a considerably higher price tag than the current generation, with new estimates suggesting buyers may have to pay as much as $200 more for the next flagship iPhones.
Research firm TrendForce estimates that the iPhone 18 Pro could start between $1,249 and $1,299 in the United States, while the larger iPhone 18 Pro Max could be priced between $1,349 and $1,399, as reported by MacRumors.
For comparison, Apple currently sells the iPhone 17 Pro from $1,099 and the iPhone 17 Pro Max from $1,199. If the estimates prove accurate, both models would therefore become between $150 and $200 more expensive at launch.
The latest figures come after earlier reports suggested Apple was preparing to increase iPhone prices as rising component costs put pressure on the company’s margins.
Memory appears to be one of the biggest factors behind the expected increase. TrendForce says the cost of a 256GB memory chip has risen by close to 400% year-on-year, while the overall bill of materials for a 256GB Pro handset is estimated to have increased by around 38%. Apple is expected to absorb some of those additional costs rather than passing the entire increase on to customers.
The potential price rise would arrive alongside several significant hardware upgrades. The iPhone 18 Pro lineup has reportedly entered mass production and is rumored to feature Apple’s new 2nm A20 Pro chip, a smaller Dynamic Island and a variable-aperture Main camera.
Apple is also preparing to introduce its first foldable iPhone, widely rumored to be called the iPhone Ultra. TrendForce estimates that the new model could start between $2,099 and $2,299, potentially making it the most expensive iPhone Apple has ever released. Higher-capacity configurations could reportedly push beyond the $3,000 mark.
This year’s lineup is expected to mark a significant change to Apple’s usual release strategy. Rather than launching the entire iPhone 18 series together, the company is expected to focus its September launch on the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and foldable iPhone, with the standard iPhone 18 and other lower-priced models reportedly following in spring 2027.
