Apple has announced a new Mac mini featuring the all-new M6 chip and a more powerful M5 Pro configuration, delivering faster performance, upgraded connectivity, and a major boost for on-device AI workloads.
Available to pre-order from today, the new Mac mini keeps the same ultracompact design while adding significantly faster chips designed for everything from everyday productivity to creative work, local AI models, and always-on agentic computing.
With the M6 chip, Apple says the Mac mini delivers up to 4x faster AI performance, up to 2x faster graphics and storage, and 40% faster CPU performance compared with the previous M4 model. The M6 version includes a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, with Neural Accelerators built into each GPU core for the first time on Mac mini.
Apple says the M6 model also includes a new Dual 16-core Neural Engine, up to 32GB of unified memory, and memory bandwidth of up to 170GB/s, helping the small desktop run demanding AI tasks, creative apps, and multitasking workflows more efficiently.
For users who need more performance, the new Mac mini with M5 Pro offers up to an 18-core CPU and 20-core GPU, with support for up to 64GB of unified memory and 307GB/s memory bandwidth. Apple says the M5 Pro model is designed for more demanding workflows including video production, game development, 3D rendering, scientific simulations, large AI models, and ProRes RAW editing.
Connectivity has also been upgraded across the lineup. Both new Mac mini models now support Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and 2.5Gb Ethernet as standard, with a 10Gb Ethernet option available. The front includes two USB-C ports and a headphone jack, while the rear includes HDMI, Ethernet, and three Thunderbolt ports.
The M6 model includes Thunderbolt 4, while the M5 Pro version adds Thunderbolt 5, giving professional users faster bandwidth for external storage, displays, and advanced workflows. Apple says Thunderbolt 5 can also be used to connect multiple Mac mini systems together for running larger AI models on-device.
The new Mac mini also adds genlock support through USB-C, allowing precise synchronization between a display and camera, including iPhone 17 Pro, making the machine more useful for professional video and production environments.
The new desktop ships with macOS 27 Golden Gate, which includes Siri AI, new Apple Intelligence features, AI-powered Shortcuts, improvements to Safari, Photos, Spotlight, systemwide Visual Intelligence, and refinements to Liquid Glass.
Apple says the new Mac mini is made with 50% recycled material overall, including 100% recycled aluminum in the enclosure and 100% recycled rare earth elements in all magnets. The packaging is also 100% fiber-based.
The new Mac mini with M6 starts at $899, or $799 for education customers. The Mac mini with M5 Pro starts at $1,699, or $1,599 for education customers.
Pre-orders are available now through Apple’s website and the Apple Store app in 30 countries and regions, including the United States. The new Mac mini will begin arriving to customers and launching in Apple Store locations and Apple Authorized Resellers from September 22.
