macOS 26.7 leak reveals iPhone 18 lineup details

Apple’s latest macOS Tahoe 26.7 Release Candidate has revealed new references to several unreleased iPhone models, offering fresh clues about the company’s upcoming iPhone roadmap, including the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone Air 2, and Apple’s first foldable iPhone.

As MacRumors reports, the software includes internal identifiers believed to correspond to Apple’s next-generation iPhone lineup, with the references appearing alongside a much wider list of unreleased products found in the update.

The iPhone-related references include V62, believed to be the next-generation iPhone Air 2, V63 for the iPhone 18 Pro, V64 for the iPhone 18 Pro Max, V67 for the standard iPhone 18, and V68, which has previously been linked to Apple’s long-rumored foldable iPhone, possibly launching under the iPhone Ultra name.

The appearance of these identifiers adds further weight to reports that Apple is preparing a major shake-up to its iPhone release schedule. Rather than launching the full iPhone 18 lineup at once, Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and foldable iPhone in September, with the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 following separately in spring 2027.

That staggered strategy would mark a major change for Apple’s iPhone lineup, allowing the company to give its highest-end models more focus during the autumn launch window while shifting its more affordable models to the spring.

The most notable reference is V68, believed to point to Apple’s first foldable iPhone. The device has been rumored for several years and is expected to feature a book-style design, opening to reveal a larger inner display while also offering an outer screen for quicker interactions when closed.

Previous reports have suggested Apple could position the foldable model above the iPhone Pro lineup, potentially using the iPhone Ultra branding to separate it from the standard iPhone range. If accurate, the device would likely become the most expensive iPhone Apple has ever released.

The references to the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max also suggest Apple is continuing development on its next premium models ahead of an expected September launch. Those devices are expected to sit alongside the foldable iPhone as the main focus of Apple’s next major iPhone event.

Meanwhile, the appearance of identifiers believed to represent the iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 supports claims that Apple’s non-Pro models may not arrive until several months later.
