Apple temporarily closes Apple Park Visitor Center exhibition space for refurbishment

Apple has temporarily closed the Exhibition Space at the Apple Park Visitor Center in Cupertino, California, with the company confirming that refurbishment work is underway.

Visitors to the center are now greeted by notices stating that an “update is in progress,” with Apple asking guests to “pardon our appearance while we improve our store.” The company has not said what changes are being made or when the Exhibition Space is expected to reopen.

The Exhibition Space has been a feature of the Apple Park Visitor Center since it opened in 2017. It houses a large-scale model of Apple Park that visitors can explore using augmented reality on an iPad, allowing them to view additional information about the campus and see interactive overlays highlighting different parts of Apple’s headquarters.

The temporary closure has led to speculation that Apple could be preparing to refresh or redesign the area. While the company has not revealed its plans, the exhibition was created several years before Apple unveiled the Apple Vision Pro, and advances in spatial computing technology could present new opportunities for a more immersive visitor experience.

Despite the closure, the rest of the Apple Park Visitor Center remains open as normal. Customers can continue to browse the retail store, visit the rooftop observation deck overlooking Apple Park, enjoy the on-site café, and book Apple Vision Pro demonstrations.

Apple has not indicated whether the existing Apple Park model will return once refurbishment work has been completed or if the Exhibition Space will reopen with an entirely new experience.
