Apple has unveiled major upgrades to Siri and Apple Intelligence in iOS 27, introducing a more capable assistant, deeper system integration, and new AI-powered tools designed to help users communicate, create, and get things done more naturally.

The biggest change is Siri AI, Apple’s next-generation assistant powered by Apple Intelligence. Siri can now hold more natural conversations, provide richer and more detailed responses, and understand follow-up questions without users needing to repeat context. Apple says Siri AI is designed to feel more conversational while remaining deeply integrated into the iPhone experience.

Siri also receives a completely redesigned interface. On supported iPhone models, Siri now lives in the Dynamic Island with a new animation replacing the familiar glow around the edge of the display. Users can activate Siri by voice, using the side button, or by swiping down on the Dynamic Island to begin typing a request.

Apple has also introduced a dedicated Siri app, giving users a central place to interact with the assistant. The new app provides a chatbot-style experience for longer conversations and more advanced requests.

One of the most notable additions is “Write with Siri.” The feature can help draft emails, messages, notes, and other text while adapting to how users communicate with different people. Apple says Siri can understand the tone and style typically used with specific contacts, allowing responses to feel more personal and natural.

Apple Intelligence also expands throughout the system. Live Translation is now available across phone calls, FaceTime, and Messages, helping users communicate across languages in real time. Apple says translations are processed using Apple Intelligence while maintaining privacy protections.

Siri can now understand more about what’s currently on screen, making it easier to perform actions without switching between apps. Users can ask questions about content they’re viewing, share information, create reminders, or perform related actions using the context already visible on their device.

The company has also expanded Apple Intelligence integration in Shortcuts. Users can build more powerful automations using AI-powered actions, including new capabilities that understand on-screen content and perform more advanced tasks across apps.

Apple Intelligence powers several other new experiences across iOS 27, including smarter writing tools, enhanced search, improved content suggestions, and more personalised recommendations throughout the operating system.

The Siri and Apple Intelligence updates arrive alongside Apple’s new Liquid Glass design language, redesigned system apps, updates to Messages, Photos, Music, Maps, Wallet, CarPlay, and Apple Games, making iOS 27 one of the company’s most ambitious software updates in recent years.

Apple says Siri AI will launch in English later this year, with support for additional languages arriving over time. Developer betas are available now, while a public beta is expected next month ahead of the full release this autumn.
