Apple is adding a new custom EQ feature for AirPods, allowing users to adjust audio settings to boost bass, increase treble, and fine-tune how their headphones sound.
This marks the first time Apple has given AirPods owners direct control over their sound profile. Until now, audio adjustments have largely been handled automatically through features such as Adaptive EQ, which tunes sound based on the fit of the earbuds and the user’s environment.
The addition gives users greater control over their listening experience without changing the simplicity that AirPods are known for.
While a custom EQ gives AirPods owners a direct way to tailor their audio, existing features such as Adaptive EQ will continue to automatically optimize sound in the background.
