The proper way to remove and attach AirPods Pro ear tips

One of the best things about AirPods Pro is the ability to swap ear tips for a more comfortable and secure fit. However, if you’ve never removed them before, it’s easy to think they’re stuck in place and worry about damaging them.

Fortunately, Apple has designed the ear tips to be removed and replaced quickly, provided you do it the right way.

When removing an ear tip, grip it near the base where it connects to the AirPod. Apply steady pressure and pull straight out. Avoid twisting or yanking the ear tip, as this can make removal more difficult and place unnecessary strain on the silicone.

If you’re struggling to get a good grip, use a clean, lint-free cloth to hold the ear tip firmly before pulling. Another trick is to gently roll the outer edge of the silicone tip inside out, giving you more surface area to hold onto while removing it.

Once removed, attaching a new ear tip is just as simple.

Line up the ear tip with the oval-shaped connector on the AirPod and push it firmly into place. You’ll hear and feel a small click when the ear tip is securely attached.

Before using your AirPods Pro, give the ear tip a gentle tug to make sure it’s locked into position. If it comes away easily, simply push it back onto the connector until it clicks.

Using the correct ear tip size can make a significant difference to comfort, sound quality, and the performance of features such as Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode, making it worth taking a moment to ensure your ear tips are fitted properly.
