Dan’s Pet Care, a Long Island-based pet services company, says Apple technology has become essential as it has grown from a one-man dog walking operation into a business with 80 employees.
The comments were shared in an interview with Apple as part of the company’s Small Business Success Stories series, which highlights how businesses are using Apple products and services to grow.
Founded in 2009 by Dan Reitman, Dan’s Pet Care now offers dog walking, boarding, daycare, grooming, and specialized pet care across three neighborhoods, as well as a full-service facility.
“Apple has been with us since our very first client,” said founder and CEO Dan Reitman. “As we’ve grown, we’ve relied on Apple because it’s simple to use and manage, and just works.”
The company says Apple devices are used throughout the business, from front desk operations to scheduling, communication, content creation, and customer service.
At its facility, Dan’s Pet Care uses iMac computers to run Gingr, a pet business management app that tracks daycare and boarding services in real time.
“iMac is perfect for our team — everything we need is built in, right out of the box,” said Kristen Assortato, director of operations at Dan’s Pet Care. “And we love how seamlessly it works with iPhone and iPad.”
Staff members use iPad in the field to manage dog-walking schedules, update pet information, and communicate with customers. The company uses the Time to Pet app for scheduling, while Jibble helps employees clock in and out of shifts using facial recognition.
Dan’s Pet Care also uses iPhone and iPad to take photos and videos of pets throughout the day, which are then used in customer report cards and social media content.
According to the company, Apple devices have also helped improve communication across teams and make it easier to keep customers informed about their pets.
As the business continues to grow, Dan’s Pet Care says it relies on Apple Business Manager and Mosyle MDM to manage devices remotely, deploy new hardware, and keep software up to date.
The company also uses Apple’s built-in security features, including Face ID, Touch ID, and end-to-end encryption, to help protect customer and business data.
Dan’s Pet Care says Apple products have helped it streamline operations and focus more on providing the best possible care for pets.
