How Sock Club uses Apple devices to power its growing custom sock business

ock Club, the Texas-based custom sock company founded by former roommates Noah Lee and Dane Jensen, says Apple technology has helped it grow from a small subscription service into a business that has produced more than 15 million pairs of socks.

The comments were shared in an interview with Apple as part of the company’s Small Business Success Stories series, which highlights how businesses are using Apple products and services to grow.

Founded with the goal of bringing custom socks to consumers and major brands, Sock Club now operates across multiple locations and employs around 45 people.

“We’re excited to be in a period of rapid growth,” said co-founder Noah Lee. “Apple is a key enabler of that.”

According to the company, Mac is used throughout the business by designers, sales teams, and other staff. Designers rely on Mac to run apps like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, helping them create custom sock designs for customers.

Communication tools like Slack and Front also help design and sales teams stay connected as they manage a growing number of orders.

Sock Club also uses iPad and iPhone in its North Carolina knitting mills. Instead of entering order details manually, employees scan QR codes with iPhone and iPad to program knitting machines and schedule designs.

That information is then automatically shared with sales teams in Texas, who use iPad apps like HubSpot to manage customer orders, create shipping labels, and send product photos to customers.

Sock Club says Apple devices have also helped simplify IT management across the business.

Max Williamson, the company’s vice president of customer success and strategic partnerships, also handles IT responsibilities. Using Apple Business Essentials, Williamson can remotely deploy and configure new devices for employees in a matter of minutes.

“Apple Business Essentials offers a platform to scale business operations, making onboarding new employees and setting up new Apple devices fast and easy,” Williamson said.

According to Sock Club, what previously took hours can now be completed in around 15 minutes, allowing employees to spend more time focusing on the business rather than troubleshooting technology.
