AirPods Max 2 now available to pre-order

Apple’s new AirPods Max 2 are now available to pre-order, following their announcement earlier this month.

Customers in the UK and more than 30 other countries can now place orders through Apple’s online store and the Apple Store app, with deliveries and in-store availability set to begin early next month. AirPods Max 2 are priced from £499.

The updated over-ear headphones build on the original AirPods Max design, introducing improved Active Noise Cancellation, enhanced sound quality, and a range of new intelligent features powered by Apple’s H2 chip.

Apple says AirPods Max 2 deliver up to 1.5 times more effective Active Noise Cancellation compared to the previous generation, helping reduce environmental noise such as traffic or airplane engines. Transparency mode has also been improved, with more natural sound when listening to surroundings.

The new model also includes features such as Adaptive Audio, which automatically adjusts noise control depending on the environment, and Conversation Awareness, which lowers audio playback when the user starts speaking. Voice Isolation has also been added to improve call clarity by prioritizing the user’s voice.

AirPods Max 2 introduce support for 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless audio when connected via USB-C, alongside a new high dynamic range amplifier designed to deliver cleaner and more detailed sound. Apple says the headphones also offer lower latency for gaming and support for Personalized Spatial Audio with head tracking.

Apple is also bringing new features aimed at creators, including studio-quality audio recording and a camera remote function that allows users to control the iPhone or iPad camera using the Digital Crown.

AirPods Max 2 are available in five colors: midnight, starlight, orange, purple, and blue, with availability beginning early next month following the pre-order period.
