iOS 27 to focus on improvements over major new features, report suggests

Apple’s next Worldwide Developers Conference may focus more on refinement than major redesigns, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman said Apple is preparing to unveil iOS 27 at WWDC this summer, but described the overall tone of the event as likely to be “fairly muted”.

He suggests the headline feature will be a more personalised version of Siri with a chatbot-style interface, building on improvements Apple has already previewed.

Beyond that, the updates across Apple’s platforms are expected to centre on performance gains, bug fixes and further design polish rather than sweeping new features.

Gurman also said the first developer beta of iOS 26.4 is expected during the week of February 23. That release is set to include early elements of Apple’s delayed Siri upgrades.

Apple typically announces WWDC toward the end of March, with the event taking place in early June.

As in previous years, the new software versions shown at the keynote are expected to be made available to developers in beta immediately, before rolling out to the public in the autumn.
