Apple to launch first low-cost MacBook with iPhone chip next year

Apple is reportedly preparing its first MacBook powered by an A-series chip from the iPhone, with the new model expected to launch in 2026. According to Bloomberg, the machine will cost “well under $1,000” and is aimed at competing with affordable Windows laptops and Chromebooks.

The low-cost MacBook will be less powerful than Apple’s M-series laptops, targeting users who need a device for web browsing, video streaming, light gaming, schoolwork, and general everyday tasks.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says the notebook is expected to feature a roughly 13-inch display and come in multiple colours, including silver, blue, pink, and yellow.

Apple’s current lowest-priced Mac notebook is the MacBook Air, starting at $999, although students can access a $100 discount through the Education Store.
