Apple COO Jeff Williams retires after 25 years

Jeff Williams has retired from Apple after more than 25 years with the company, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Williams’ departure follows Apple’s announcement earlier this year that he would step down from his role as Chief Operating Officer. Sabih Khan, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Operations, is taking over as COO.

At the time of the announcement, CEO Tim Cook credited Williams with shaping Apple’s global supply chain, overseeing the launch and development of Apple Watch, guiding the company’s health initiatives, and leading Apple’s design teams. Cook said Apple “wouldn’t be what it is today without him,” adding that Williams leaves behind a strong operations organisation built over decades.

Williams first joined Apple in 1998 and became COO in 2015, serving as one of the company’s most senior leaders throughout Apple’s modern hardware era.
