Apple invites UK users to design Christmas trees on iPad for Battersea Power Station

Apple is inviting UK users to take part in a Christmas-themed competition to design a digital Christmas tree on iPad, with winning entries to be projected onto Battersea Power Station’s iconic river-facing chimneys and wash towers.

The competition, which opens today, runs until 23 November at midnight, with 24 public submissions to be featured in the final display. The winning designs will be revealed on 4 December at 5 p.m., during a public unveiling event at the London landmark — which also serves as Apple’s UK headquarters.

“Using the power and versatility of our most capable iPad lineup yet, we’re excited to bring Christmas cheer to Battersea Power Station and inspire festive creativity across the nation,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “It’s inspiring to see such remarkable talent across multiple mediums — all brought together alongside Munya Chawawa. We can’t wait to experience these creations next to the incredible contributions from the public.”

The Battersea Christmas tradition began in 2023 with world-renowned artist David Hockney’s Bigger Christmas Trees, created on iPad Pro. In 2024, Aardman, the studio behind Wallace & Gromit, used iPhone 16 Pro Max to produce a short festive animation featuring the characters building Christmas trees.
