Apple Store goes down ahead of iPhone 17 event

Apple has taken its online store offline ahead of today’s “Awe Dropping” event. The keynote is expected to spotlight the iPhone 17 lineup, new Apple Watch models, updated AirPods, and release details for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26 Tahoe, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26.

Apple is expected to unveil four new iPhone models today: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The iPhone 17 Air—rumored to be the thinnest iPhone yet—may feature a 6.6-inch 120 Hz OLED display and a single 48 MP camera. Other expected specs include USB-C, Wi-Fi 7, a titanium–aluminum frame, and a compact high-capacity battery. Pre-orders could open September 12, with general availability starting September 19.

The Pro models are tipped to deliver the biggest upgrades, including Apple’s new A19 Pro chip, 12 GB RAM, a refined camera-bar design, a 48 MP telephoto lens, 24 MP front camera, vapor-chamber cooling, reverse wireless charging, and a scratch-resistant display layer.

All iPhone 17 variants are expected to feature 120 Hz displays, tougher glass, and iOS 26.

The Apple Watch Ultra may gain a slightly larger display and 5G support. The Apple Watch Series 11 is said to bring performance improvements via the new S11 chip, high blood pressure detection, and 5G connectivity. The Apple Watch SE is expected to adopt the same S11 chip, along with minor refinements over the current model.

Apple may also debut AirPods Pro 3, equipped with a new H3 chip, enhanced Active Noise Cancellation, and a smaller charging case that replaces the physical pairing button with a capacitive one.

Alongside the hardware, Apple is expected to confirm release dates for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26 Tahoe, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26—all first previewed at WWDC in June.
