iPhone 17 Pro: the rumours so far

In less than a month, Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 series, which will include four new models: the standard iPhone 17, the all-new ultra-slim iPhone 17 Air, and the high-end iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

As the launch approaches, here’s a roundup of everything we know so far about the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.

The iPhone 17 Pro models are expected to closely resemble the current generation, with two notable changes.

First, Apple is rumoured to be introducing a “part-aluminum, part-glass” design, replacing the full aluminum frame used on the iPhone 16 Pro. Second, a larger rear camera bump is expected—one that stretches across the entire width of the phone. This new rectangular camera bar will mark a significant design departure and is similar to what we’ve seen on the Google Pixel 9 Pro and other recent Pixel devices.

The redesigned camera bump is said to house a new 48-megapixel telephoto lens, up from 12 megapixels on the iPhone 16 Pro—a major upgrade aimed at improving zoom and detail.

In addition, all four iPhone 17 models are rumoured to feature a new 24-megapixel front-facing camera, doubling the resolution of the current 12MP camera and potentially enhancing selfies and FaceTime quality across the lineup.

The new camera design may also come with a redesigned antenna system that wraps around the camera bar. This could lead to improved 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth performance.

Under the hood, the Pro models are expected to feature Apple’s next-generation A19 Pro chip, paired with 12GB of RAM, delivering enhanced performance for gaming, multitasking, demanding apps, and support for Apple Intelligence.

Two new colour options have been rumoured for the iPhone 17 Pro line: dark blue and a new orange finish.

Pricing may also shift slightly. The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to be $50 more expensive than the iPhone 16 Pro, but it could start with 256GB of base storage instead of 128GB, potentially justifying the higher price.
