Apple COO Jeff Williams stepping down later this month

Apple has announced that Jeff Williams will retire later this month, stepping down from his role as Chief Operating Officer. Sabih Khan, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Operations, will succeed him as COO.

“Jeff and I have worked together for as long as I can remember, and Apple wouldn’t be what it is today without him,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “He helped create one of the most respected global supply chains in the world, launched Apple Watch and guided its development, architected our health strategy, and led our world-class design team with wisdom, heart, and dedication. I’m deeply grateful for his countless contributions to Apple and for his loyal friendship. Jeff’s true legacy is the incredible team he’s built. While he’ll be greatly missed, he leaves the future in excellent hands.”

Cook also praised Khan, saying, “Sabih is a brilliant strategist and a key architect of our supply chain. Under his leadership, Apple has pioneered new technologies in advanced manufacturing, expanded our U.S. manufacturing footprint, and remained agile in the face of global challenges. He has driven forward our ambitious environmental goals, helping reduce Apple’s carbon footprint by more than 60 percent. Above all, Sabih leads with heart and integrity—I’m confident he will be an outstanding Chief Operating Officer.”

Khan joined Apple 30 years ago and became part of the executive team in 2019. For the past six years, he has led Apple’s global supply chain, overseeing product quality, planning, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and fulfillment.
