Tim Cook says Apple is ‘making progress’ on delayed Apple Intelligence features

Apple CEO Tim Cook says the company is making steady progress on its delayed Apple Intelligence features — including a more advanced, personalized version of Siri — but emphasized that Apple needs additional time to meet its standards for quality.

“We’re making progress,” Cook said during Apple’s fiscal Q2 2025 earnings call on Thursday, where the company reported $95.4 billion in revenue. “With regard to the more personal Siri features we announced, we need more time to complete our work so they meet our high quality bar. We look forward to getting these features into customers’ hands.”

Cook’s remarks come after Apple confirmed in March that several key AI capabilities, originally unveiled last year, would be postponed. At the time, Apple gave a vague timeline, saying the features would arrive “in the coming year.”

Among the delayed Apple Intelligence features is Personal Context, which will allow Siri to understand and reference a user’s emails, messages, files, and photos to assist with tasks like finding documents or recalling personal details. Another is Onscreen Awareness, enabling Siri to interpret what’s currently on the user’s screen — for example, adding a shared address directly to a contact card or sending an image to a friend with a single command.

Additionally, Deeper App Integration is set to give Siri new powers to perform complex, multi-step tasks across apps, such as moving files, editing photos, or sending messages — all without manual input.
