Apple’s Phil Schiller to join OpenAI as board observer
According to Bloomberg, Apple Fellow and App Store chief Phil Schiller will join OpenAI as a board observer. This move is part of a larger agreement to integrate ChatGPT into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia.
As part of the agreement, Schiller will be able to attend and participate in board meetings but does not have voting rights or formal control.
The collaboration between Apple and OpenAI will significantly enhance Siri’s capabilities in iOS 18, enabling it to handle more complex queries and tasks through ChatGPT’s advanced natural language processing.
This integration will allow Siri to maintain more meaningful and context-aware conversations, resulting in more natural interactions with users. It will broaden Siri’s task delegation abilities, from setting reminders and sending messages to drafting emails and providing detailed information on various topics. Additionally, Siri’s multilingual support will improve, offering more fluent translations and interactions.
