Apple has officially started approving apps made by third-party developers for its all-new mixed-reality Apple Vision Pro headset, with the visionOS App Store, where headset users will download apps to their device, now allowing developers to list their apps ahead of pre-orders for the wearable beginning on Friday, January 19.

As noted by MacRumors, a post on X, formally known as Twitter, developer @DylanMcD8 has shared that their visionOS app has now been approved, noting that the iOS App Store will show if apps for iPhone are compatible with Apple Vision Pro under the Compatibility section of an app’s listing.

Apple announced last Monday that Apple Vision Pro will be available for pre-order in the US on January 19, with in-store availability beginning on February 2.

Apple unveiled its new $3,499 Apple Vision Pro headset last year, made from a singular piece of three-dimensionally formed laminated glass with an aluminum alloy frame that curves to wrap a user’s face. The device features an array of advanced cameras and sensors that work together to enable the mixed-reality experience, and speakers are positioned close to a users ears to deliver Spatial Audio to create life-like three-dimensional environments.

The new Apple Vision Pro headset runs a software called visionOS, which is heavily inspired by macOS, iOS, and iPadOS. visionOS features a brand-new three-dimensional interface controlled by a person’s eyes, hands, and voice. Users can browse through apps by simply looking at them, tapping their fingers to select, flicking their wrist to scroll, or using voice to dictate.
