Apple now selling standalone USB-C AirPods Pro charging case

Apple is now selling a standalone USB-C AirPods Pro charging case in-store and through the online Apple Store, allowing owners of the second-generation AirPods Pro, which originally launched with a Lightning charging case to upgrade to a USB-C version.

The case, priced at $99, includes the U1 chip with Precision Finding. It features a lanyard loop for securing the case to a backpack or handbag. Additionally, the case is IP54 certified, making it somewhat dust, sweat, and water resistant.

Apple’s quiet launch of the standalone USB-C AirPods Pro charging case was first spotted by The Verge, who note that delivery estimates are stretching beyond Christmas.

In addition to USB-C, the charging case can also be used with an Apple Watch charger, MagSafe charger, or any Qi-certified charger.
