iPhone 16 Pro expected to feature tetraprism camera

Apple is again rumored to be bringing its tetraprism camera, currently found exclusively on the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Pro Max, to both the 6.1-inch iPhone 16 Pro and, of course, the 6.7-inch iPhone 16 Pro Max next year.

In a research note by respected industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it is said that tetraprism lens supplier Largan has increased its production yield from 40% to 70%, adding that “Apple is expected to include a tetraprism camera in the iPhone 16 Pro,” as widely rumored.

In the run up to the launch of the iPhone 15 Pro Max earlier this year, reports suggested that Apple would make its new tetraprism camera exclusive to the largest 6.7-inch model, with the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro missing out on the tetraprism zoom, which offers 5x telephoto zoom — the highest of any iPhone.

According to Kuo’s report, both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will offer the same tetraprism camera features, which will lead to a 160% year-over-year growth in iPhones with the technology.

Though it’s early for iPhone 16 rumors, reports suggest the new devices might include larger displays, upgraded camera systems, and Wi-Fi 7 capabilities.
