iOS 17.1 out now with Apple Music favoriting feature, new StandBy settings, Connected Cards in Wallet, more

Apple has released iOS 17.1 for iPhone, bringing with it a new Apple Music favoriting feature, new StandBy settings, AirDrop over cellular, reachability changes, Connected Cards in Wallet, and more.

Beginning today, users can favorite songs, albums, playlists, and artists in the Music app, with favorited music added to the Library and also improves recommendations.

Apple has added a new AirDrop setting, allowing transfers to be completed over a cellular connection or Wi-Fi if you distance yourself from the person you’re sharing with after initiating the transfer. iOS 17.1 adds a new “Display” section to the StandBy section of the Settings app. The display can be set to turn off automatically, after 20 seconds, or never.

In the UK, Apple is launching a new Connected Cards feature, which allows customers banking with select banks to show their bank balance within the Wallet app.

Other iOS 17.1 features include Dynamic Island improvements, and the ability to select a specific album of photos that will be shown on the Lock Screen through the Photo Shuffle for the Lock Screen setting.

The update, which marks Apple’s first major release to iOS 17 so far, also address French radiation concerns with the iPhone 12, in which officials deemed that the device emitted more electromagnetic waves susceptible to be absorbed by the body than permitted.
