Apple working on software fix for iPhone 15 overheating issues

Apple has confirmed that it is working on a fix to address overheating issues with the new iPhone 15 series, which it attributes to an iOS 17 software bug.

In a statement shared over the weekend, Apple said it has “identified a few conditions which can cause iPhone to run warmer than expected” after users reported their devices producing excessive heat in the first two weeks of the devices being available.

“The device may feel warmer during the first few days after setting up or restoring the device because of increased background activity,” says Apple. “We have also found a bug in iOS 17 that is impacting some users and will be addressed in a software update.”

Since the release of iOS 17 last month, Apple has released tow subsequent iOS 17.0.1 and iOS 17.02 bug fixing updates.

Apple hasn’t said when it will release its next bug fixing update for the iPhone 15, however, it is likely that the release will be made available in the coming days to address the user concerns.
