Apple reportedly planning new areas in stores for Apple Vision Pro demonstrations

Apple is reportedly planning new designated areas within its retail stores to host Apple Vision Pro demonstrations, with the iPhone maker working on an app for retail employees to scan customers’ faces to help determine the correct size for the light seal for the Apple Vision Pro headset.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new spaces also will let buyers choose the correctly sized bands and light seal, with Apple considering initially requiring appointments for purchases, similar to how it required customers to pre-book appointments to try on an Apple Watch when they first launched in 2015.

Gurman says “Apple has developed an iPhone app to scan customers’ faces to help determine the correct size for the light seal. The company will issue that app to its retail stores for the purchase process and could also release it as an app to consumers who are shopping online.”

Earlier today it was reported that Apple has developed a second strap for the Apple Vision Pro headset that would make the wearable less front heavy, though the new strap will likely be sold as an extra accessory rather than it being included in the box.

Apple unveiled its long-rumored Apple Vision Pro mixed-reality headset at WWDC23 earlier this month. The mixed-reality headset blends digital content with the physical world through a fully three-dimensional user interface controlled by a user’s eyes, hands, and voice.
