Apple unveiled its long-rumored Apple Vision Pro mixed-reality headset on Monday at WWDC23, made from a singular piece of three-dimensionally formed laminated glass with an aluminum alloy frame, featuring a stretchable 3D knitted fabric headband that goes around the user’s head behind their ears to seal-out light and to secure the headset to a user’s face.

During the unavailing of Apple Vision Pro, and in all of Apple’s subsequent marketing, only one headband is advertised for the device, however, it appears that a secondary overhead strap will also be available for the device, which could be sold separately.

Upon rewatching the announcement of Apple Vision Pro, viewers have noticed that in one clip, where a father uses the headset to capture video footage of his daughters, the user can be seen with a secondary strap across their head, something that wasn’t mentioned by Apple during the WWDC23 keynote or anywhere online, including the official press release for the device or the headset’s webpage on Apple.com.

It is assumed that the additional strap will be for balancing weight of the headset, which some hands-on testers have described as “front-heavy.”

Apple’s new Vision Pro mixed-reality headset blends digital content with the physical world through a fully three-dimensional user interface controlled by a user’s eyes, hands, and voice.

The secondary overhead strap can be seen at 1:36:00 in the video below.
