Apple teases ‘a new era begins’ at WWDC23

Apple has teased that its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which is expected to be one of iPhone maker’s longest ever, will mark the start of “a new era” amid rumors that Apple will unveil its long-awaited mixed-reality AR/VR headset at the event, which begins next week on Monday, June 5.

In a tweet, Apple says “A new era begins. Join us for #WWDC23 on June 5,” offering to send personalized event reminders to those interested in watching the event live on apple.com.

As seen ahead of previous events, Apple is promoting a tweet which invites users to tap the “Favorite” button on Twitter to receive a reminder from @Apple ahead of the main event on Monday.

Tapping the Favorite button on Twitter sees users receive an immediate thank you message from Apple, with the main reminder usually being shared 5-10 minutes before the event itself, kicking off on June 5 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time (PT).

Separately in an email ahead of the event, Apple has told developers to get ready to “code new worlds,” which could be taken metaphorically, hinting at the all-new augmented and virtual reality features coming to the headset, which developers will be able to use to create a new “world” in their apps.

When is WWDC 2023?

WWDC will take place from June 5 through June 9, with the main keynote taking place at the beginning of the week on Monday, June 5, which is when the iPhone maker is expected to announce iOS 17, iPadOS 17, watchOS 10, and macOS 14.

What will Apple announce at WWDC 2023?

WWDC will see Apple announce the next major software updates coming later in the year for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac, including iOS 17, iPadOS 17, watchOS 10, and macOS 14. The keynote is also expected to see the company unveil its much-anticipated AR/VR mixed-reality headset, which would be shown off ahead of a launch towards the end of the year.
