Apple rumored to add iPhone 14 Pro 48MP camera to iPhone 15 and 15 Plus

Apple is rumored to be bringing the 48MP camera system found on the high-end iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max to the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, although component issues could lead to a delay for the more affordable devices.

Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu has reported that the lower-end iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models will be equipped with a 48-megapixel rear camera lens for improved image quality, like that introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max last year.

Pu says that based on recent supply chain checks, he anticipates that the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus could face production delays due to yield issues with the stacked camera sensor, although the devices are still expected to launch in September.

Apple is expected to bring the Dynamic Island from the iPhone 14 Pro to all four iPhone 15 models this year, making the feature available for the first time not just on the ‘Pro’ series models. Previous reports have claimed that Apple won’t bring ProMotion or its Always-On Display feature to the regular iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Plus.

It has been rumored that the new devices will be available in a new color — cyan-green, and that the new models will have a “frosted glass” back design, matching the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max
