Apple announces new updates for Apple Podcasts coming with iOS 16.4

Apple has today announced several updates for Apple Podcasts coming with iOS 16.4, including a new Channels menu, Up Next queue updates, enhancements to the way episodes are presented across Apple Podcasts, improvements to the Apple Podcasts experience in CarPlay, and more.

Announced on its Apple Podcasts for Creators webpage on Thursday, Apple says later this spring, listeners will be able to find and browse all of their podcast channels in one place on iPhone, iPad, and Mac with a new Channels menu, showing subscribed channels in a new section of Library of the Podcasts app.

With iOS 16.4, Apple is making improvements to the Up Next queue, featuring new episodes from followed shows to help listeners decide what to play next. With these software updates, Up Next will also include episodes listeners have saved to their Library and episodes that they play from shows they do not follow.

Additionally, soon, listeners will be able to access their Up Next and Recently Played queues from Listen Now in CarPlay.

iOS 16.4, iPadOS 16.4, and macOS 13.3 will be released as a free software update later this spring, with the new Apple Podcasts updates available then.
