Reviewers unbox new HomePod in first hands-on videos

Apple has given a small number of reviewers an early hands-on with the new 2nd-generation full-sized HomePod ahead of availability beginning on Friday, February 3.

Unlike the previous-generation, the new 2nd-generation HomePod features an edge to edge backlit touch surface, retaining the mesh fabric found on the original model in two colours: white and midnight, a new colour made with 100 percent recycled mesh fabric, with a colour-matched woven power cable.

The speaker features enhanced Siri capabilities, support for Spatial Audio, the S7 chip, and more for $299 (US).

Ahead of in-store availability beginning for the 2nd-generation HomePod later this week, Apple has given reviewers the opportunity to listen to the new and improved HomePod in person, with the first wave of hands-on videos now available from MKBHD, iJustine, Smart Home Solver, Karl Conrad, and more.
