Apple has confirmed that iOS 16.3 will release next week, bringing with it new features and upgrades, including Security Keys for Apple ID, a new Black Unity Apple Watch watch face and iPhone Lock Screen wallpaper, changes to Emergency SOS, and more.

Apple confirmed that iOS 16.3 would be releasing next week within a press release shared on Wednesday to announce the new Black Unity Apple Watch Sport Loop, noting how the new watch face and iPhone Lock Screen wallpaper releasing in commemoration of Black History Month will require iOS 16.3, which will be “available next week.”

Apple has been beta testing iOS 16.3 since late last year. So far, the beta cycle has revealed that the forthcoming update will be relatively minor, adding Security Keys for Apple ID that strengthens Apple’s two-factor authentication by requiring a hardware security key as one of the two factors, as well as changing its Emergency SOS feature, which now requires iPhone users to release the buttons when activating the Emergency SOS mode before the device automatically calls the emergency services.

Ahead of the release of Apple’s new 2nd-generation HomePod, Apple has redesigned the HomePod Handoff prompt when handing music off from an iPhone to a HomePod.
