New M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pro reportedly ‘Delayed Once Again’

Apple’s new M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pros are reportedly “delayed once again,” according to a new report by Taiwanese publication DigiTimes, which suggests that the machines could miss their expected early 2023 release after Apple initially intended to announce the models late last year.

The report suggests that due to the late launch of the new machines, MacBook shipments will likely drop 40-50% sequentially in the first quarter of the year.

Apple’s forthcoming M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pro models will offer “marginal leaps from today’s MacBook Pro processors,” according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who corroborated previous rumors in his weekly Power On newsletter that suggest that the new 14-inch and 16-inch models will represent minor upgrades of the current-generation machines.

It should come of no shock that Apple’s new 2022 MacBook Pro models will bring relatively minor upgrades over the previous generation M1 Pro and M1 Max models, which launched alongside a full redesign to the MacBook Pro, featuring an iPhone-style notch, MagSafe charging, a Liquid Retina XDR display, an HDMI port, and more.
