iOS 16.2 adds new Sleep and Medications Lock Screen widgets

Apple has released iOS 16.2, introducing two new Lock Screen widgets for iPhone including Sleep and Medications widgets to show users their most recent sleep session and sleep stages, and their upcoming medication schedule from the Lock Screen.

Adding to Apple’s existing range of Lock Screen widgets, the new Sleep widget shows recent sleep data at a glance, using the sleep tracking insights from the Health app that are collected by an Apple Watch or other sleep tracking devices to display a summery of a user’s sleep stages throughout the night.

With the new Medications widgets, Apple displays reminders for upcoming medications, vitamins, or supplements from the iPhone Lock Screen. In addition to reminders, users will be able to see their daily schedule, which will open the Health app when tapped to show a larger overview of upcoming medicines.

Apple introduced Lock Screen widgets with iOS 16. Widgets are glanceable snippets that offer information without having to enter an app. For example, the Weather widget shows the current temperature all the time on the Lock Screen without opening the Weather app, and the Calendar widget shows any upcoming events with just a glance, without opening the Calendar app.
