Tim Cook interested in Apple buying UK soccer team Manchester United

Apple CEO Tim Cook has reportedly “expressed interest” in buying UK soccer team Manchester United, one of the world’s most popular football clubs, according to two sources.

As reported by British newspaper The Daily Star, Apple is said to be considering a “blockbuster” takeover of Manchester United, where David Beckham once played, after the club’s current owners announced that they would accept an acquisition from the highest bidder.

According to the report, “part of Cook’s plan could include Apple funding the building of a new state-of-the-art stadium that would be regarded the best in the world.”

The club’s current owners, the Glazers had initially set an asking price of £8.25billion, as revealed by Daily Star Sport, but have reportedly been told this is unrealistic in the current market.

According to The Daily Star, Tim Cook and Apple are one of many American billionaires interested in purchasing the club, although no further details were shared.
