Apple has brought the battery percentage indicator to the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11 with iOS 16.1, which is now available to download expanding Live Activities to third-party apps, introducing Clean Energy Charging to iPhone in the US, adding iCloud Shared Photo Library support, and more.
Apple brought the battery percentage indicator back to iPhone with iOS 16, showing the battery percentage in the status bar on iPhone, with the exception of the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11, which missed out on the feature until now.
Until today’s update, Apple has only shown users of the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11 a visual representation of the battery level rather than an exact percentage, with users having to swipe down to open Control Center to view the percentage due to the lack of space in the iPhone status bar because of the space taken up by the TrueDepth camera system on the smaller devices.
Now, the iPhone will show the percentage of available battery in the status bar, with the color of the percentage indicator changing dynamically based on the user’s wallpaper, and whether or not the user is charging their iPhone or has Low Power Mode enabled.
How to see iPhone battery percentage in iOS 16
- Open the Settings app and tap the Battery option
- Turn on the Battery Percentage toggle
