Apple reportedly classing iPhone‌ 5c as obsolete beginning next month

Apple is reportedly readying the iPhone 5c to be classed as an obsolete product beginning next month, a status given to devices when Apple stopped distributing them for sale more than 7 years ago.

Apple introduced the colorful iPhone 5c as an entry-level iPhone in 2013, coinciding with the release of iOS 7. The budget-priced iPhone featured a 4-inch display and plastic back casing, available in Pink, Yellow, Green, Blue, and White color options with a single 8-megapixel camera and an Apple A6 processor.

According to MacRumors, a memo obtained by the site confirms that the plastic iPhone will be marked as obsolete starting next month, with Apple discontinuing all hardware services for obsolete products, leaving anyone still using the ageing iPhone unable to get their device serviced by Apple or any of Apple’s official network of approved repair technicians.

Apple recently added the iPhone 6 — once Apple’s most popular iPhone — to its list of vintage and obsolete products.
