Apple has upgraded Cinematic mode — the feature on iPhone that records videos with a shallow depth of field and focus transitions — with support to capture in 4K at 30 fps with the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, although 4K capture is disabled by default out-of-the-box.
Cinematic mode on iPhone records videos of people, pets, and objects with a depth effect with automatic focus changes, so anyone can capture cinema-style moments. For creative control, the focus can be changed during and after capture, and users can also adjust the level of bokeh in the Photos app.
With the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, Cinematic mode is now available in 4K at 30 fps and 4K at 24 fps.
How to enable 4K Cinematic mode videos on iPhone 14 Pro
- Open the Settings app and scroll down to Camera
- Tap the Record Cinematic option
- Select 4K at 30 fps
A minute of Cinematic video recorded in 4K at 30 fps will be approximately 170 MB.
