iPhone 14 pre-orders begin updating to ‘Preparing to Ship’

Apple has started updating the order statuses for some iPhone 14 pre-orders, with a handful of customers taking to social media to share screenshots of the Apple Store app, which now shows their orders in the “Preparing to Ship” stage.

Deliveries and in-store pickups for the new devices begin on Friday, September 16. When an order status changes to “Preparing to Ship,” the order can no longer be cancelled, and Apple begins boxing up the order and getting it ready for dispatch.

Not all customers who pre-ordered an iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Pro with launch day delivery will likely see their order status change to “Preparing to Ship” just yet. The statuses change as and when each individual order is processed, so it takes a while for Apple to work through all the orders placed right as the online Apple Store when online on Friday.

Shipping estimates for the new devices have quickly slipped into October for most, if not all, colors and configurations, with Apple.com showing very few Apple Store locations offering launch day pickup options for the new devices.
