Gurman says ‘Mac Studio’ and new Apple external display ‘ready to go’

Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has claimed Apple’s rumored “Mac Studio” machine and new external display are “ready to go” ahead of today’s “Peek performance” special event, where the two new products are expected to be announced alongside a new 5G iPhone SE and updated iPad Air with Center Stage camera.

A report last week claimed to have knowledge about a new “Apple Studio Display” with a 7K resolution, offering a higher resolution than Apple’s current Pro Display XDR, blurring the lines on whether the new arrival will be a replacement for the high-end Pro Display XDR or a new addition to join Apple’s standalone display lineup, with Gurman saying on Sunday that Apple completed work on its rumored new display “months ago,” and the device was due to launch “soon after last year’s MacBook Pro.”

YouTuber Luke Miani shared renders created in collaboration with Ian Zelbo on Monday that claimed to show Apple’s rumored new 27-inch “Studio Display” and “Mac Studio” based on leaked information about the new products, suggesting the “Mac Studio” will have a Mac mini-like design with a taller profile. According to the YouTuber, the new “Mac Studio” is said to have the same footprint as the Mac mini, with previous reports suggesting the new desktop will feature either the M1 Pro chip from last year’s redesigned MacBook Pro or an all-new, more powerful custom M2 chip.

It is believed that the new external display will have an A-Series chip powering it, similar to the iPhone.
